USE OF ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

Use of eco-green chemicals

At Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford, we prioritize your well-being and the environment. Our eco-green cleaning program utilizes approved chemicals and sustainable practices, ensuring a clean and healthy stay for all.

Bathroom amenities

Fairmont Singapore prioritizes sustainability and environmental responsibility. We collaborate with like-minded partners, like Le Labo, a cruelty-free fragrance house (free from animal products and testing), to minimize our footprint. In line with this commitment, Le Labo encourages customers to refill their fragrances, reducing single-use packaging.

Furthermore, both Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford have transitioned to larger amenity dispensers in guest rooms, significantly reducing single-use plastic bottles. In 2023, we diverted 507,079 kg of plastic waste from landfills by switching to larger soap dispensers. This collaborative effort ensures a luxurious experience without compromising on environmental stewardship.

Reduce, Re-use and Recycle

We are committed to promoting sustainability in all aspects of its operations.

We’re proud to introduce Eco Serve, a revolutionary line of waterless and cableless “chafing dishes.” This innovation optimizes operations, reduces our environmental impact, and furthers our commitment to sustainability.

Reduced Carbon Emission At Fairmont Singapore

Our innovative Eco Serve line of waterless and cableless chafing dishes isn’t just good for the environment, it enhances your experience too! This technology reduces carbon emissions by 5,363kg and saves over 199,680 litres of water annually by eliminating the need for electricity and water.

Eco Serve also translates to superior service for you. These dishes maintain consistent temperatures for extended periods, minimizing food waste and ensuring fresh, delicious offerings. Additionally, the cable-free design allows for greater flexibility in the buffet layout, creating a more dynamic and enjoyable dining experience.

SwissPro Water Filter located at Raffles City Convention Centre & South Tower of Fairmont Singapore

One-time use bottles are replaced with SwissPro Water dispensers located at Raffles City Convention Centre and guest rooms at the South Tower of Fairmont Singapore. Our switch to the SwissPro Water dispenser has resulted in a 7,228 kg reduction in plastic waste yearly.

Filtered Drinking Water In Guest Rooms at North Tower of Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford

As a purpose-driven hospitality brand committed to sustainability, we’ve eliminated all plastic bottled water in guest rooms, replacing them with a convenient fresh water dispenser. Each guest room is equipped with a fresh water dispenser and we invite and encourage you to join us on this green journey by bringing your own bottles for refill or using the glass bottles in your rooms. Our filtered drinking water provides a convenient and eco-friendly option, reducing plastic waste by 17,540 kg yearly. Now you can make sustainable living a way of life even while on the road.

Use of biodegradable cutleries and sustainable disposable containers in Restaurants and Bars

Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford are leading the charge towards a greener future in hospitality. One of their many sustainability initiatives is the elimination of single-use plastic straws and cutlery, replaced with eco-friendly biodegradable options.

This commitment extends to minimizing food waste. Restaurants with buffets feature live cooking stations, where dishes are prepared fresh based on guest preferences, reducing the need for bulk preparation and potential leftovers. Partnering with Treatsure, they also offer a “buffet-in-a-box” option on select days, allowing guests to enjoy delicious meals without contributing to food waste. These practices exemplify their dedication to environmental responsibility, ensuring a luxurious and sustainable experience for all.

Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford take a data-driven approach to sustainability. They utilize Lumitics, an AI-powered food waste tracker, to meticulously analyze what and how much food gets wasted in their kitchens. These insights allow them to optimize production processes, minimize ingredient spoilage, and engineer menus to reduce waste. This innovative approach ensures a more sustainable future for the hotel and minimizes environmental impact. Take a look at this technology with this feature by Channel News Asia.

In addition to Lumitics’ AI tracking, we turn food scraps into a valuable resource. These scraps are composted and used as fertilizer for our Aquaponics Garden, which supplies fresh, homegrown herbs and ingredients for your dining experience.

Taking innovation a step further, we installed a valoriser in 2023. This cutting-edge technology transforms food waste into 80% clean water for safe discharge and a 20% usable substrate. Researchers are currently exploring its potential to be converted into animal feed, maximizing resource recovery and minimizing environmental impact.

Pawcation amenities

We clean and sanitize gently used pet amenities, then donate them to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), providing vital resources for their furry residents.

Guest rooms and suites are furnished with energy-saving technology

Fairmont Singapore elevates your stay with innovative technology! Our rooms feature smart air-conditioning and presence detection. This technology ensures a personalized climate and lighting experience while minimizing energy consumption.

RESOURCE CONSERVATION

Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford are leading the charge in sustainable practices. In 2015, they launched a pioneering initiative, offering digital access to The Straits Times and International New York Times through an app. This eliminated the need for physical newspapers, resulting in a significant environmental impact.

The benefits are multifaceted. Guest services and housekeeping staff enjoy increased productivity, with an estimated savings of over 6,300 man-hours annually. Additionally, this program reduces hotel waste by an impressive 247 tonnes of paper per year.

Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop there. They’ve implemented advanced technology to precisely monitor temperature and humidity in guest rooms and meeting spaces. This ensures guest comfort while minimizing unnecessary energy consumption, further reducing the hotel’s environmental footprint.

Temperature Control at Fairmont Singapore, Swissôtel The Stamford and Raffles City Convention Centre

At Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford, we prioritize both environmental responsibility and guest comfort. A key to achieving this balance is precise monitoring of temperature and humidity within our meeting rooms.

In addition to temperature, we utilise advanced monitoring systems, so we can continuously assess the ambient temperature and make prompt adjustments if needed. This eliminates the need for constant manual adjustments, minimizing unnecessary energy consumption. This approach saves valuable resources while ensuring a comfortable and productive meeting environment for our guests.

Beyond temperature, humidity plays a crucial role. High humidity can create an unpleasant atmosphere, while excessive moisture can even lead to mould growth and air quality issues. Our monitoring system allows for precise control of humidity levels, preventing these discomforts and maintaining a healthier environment for all. This proactive approach not only benefits guest well-being but also contributes to our sustainability efforts. By keeping humidity levels optimal, we reduce the need for energy-intensive air conditioning and ventilation systems.
